How
do I even begin to condense the past couple of weeks into one blog post? I’m
sitting in the sunroom late in the evening with a few beautiful people after
we’ve spent a gorgeous day together. This morning we worked in the Troll Garden
(which is the community garden). This afternoon we baked mountains of cookies
in preparation for the open house this evening, and in the process, an amazing triple
rainbow was spotted, where everything stopped as we all charged to the deck to view
an amazing and spectacular sight. It’s the moments like this one that make each
day here a gift.
This
evening our doors opened and home people, interns and staff of Solheimar
gathered in Brekkukot (our new home) to mingle and meet the new CELL students.
I had so much fun playing Uno, singing along to guitar, listening to stories,
and getting a lesson on how airplanes fly. This night has certainly solidified my
presence in this community. It’s reminded me that it doesn’t take much to find
a community wherever travels may take you, all it takes is friendly smiles and
lots of laughter, and perhaps a wide assortment of cookies and coffee.
As
much adventuring as we’ve done in our short time here. The time spent at Soheimar
might be the most magical for me. We were welcomed into this community with the
most splendid excitement and wide-open arms. The first day we walked into the
canteen there was an energy that electrified the air, and every person in the
room. Every interaction I’ve had here has been so genuine, it seems strange to
take observance of that, but I feel like life here has a more honest quality to
it. I look forward for the days to come and all the learning and self
exploration that will go on during my time at Solheimar. Because this short
time here is just the tip of the iceberg, and I can already feel the changes in
myself taking place.
